Time to Put Rideshare Drivers Back in the Driver’s Seat

Rideshare drivers are essential to our state. They ensure we get where we need to be on time, yet they continue to be left behind by Uber and Lyft. We must put drivers back where they belong: in the driver's seat.

Like all working people, rideshare drivers deserve the right to join a union, and right now in Illinois, drivers do not have a legal path for unionizing. That’s why drivers have reached out to major labor unions: IAM Local 701 and SEIU Local 1 to help thousands of rideshare drivers establish a path through legislation that allows us to join the union of our choice.

Having union representation lifts wages and would give drivers a voice at the table with the large rideshare companies.

  • "I think that everyone should have the right of passage to receive decent pay that gives them the ability to procure a quality lifestyle as an Uber driver. Therefore, I support organizing a union for all Uber rideshare drivers."

  • "I am a member of Local 1. I work part time with Uber and I am supporting so that we have a union to obtain benefits."
